Over a four year period, Artelia supported Great Dixter Charitable Trust to improve the visitor experience, education facilities and sustainability of the estate, which was the family home of the late, great experimental gardener, Christopher Lloyd. The completed works, funded by a Heritage Lottery Fund grant, mean that this valuable heritage site is now secure for visitors to enjoy for generations to come. Alongside repairs and restoration of the estate, a modern services infrastructure and sustainable heat sources have been introduced. Farm buildings have been modified to increase capacity for gardening and horticultural education facilities and the Great Barn has been restored and opened to public access for the first time. As part of our commission, Artelia compiled and managed the Stage 2 funding application to HLF, and acted as the Trust’s principle HLF contact point.
