Cheam Leisure Centre was originally completed in 1938, primarily for use as swimming baths, but with the capacity for the pool to be turned into a public auditorium with a portable spring floor and stage area. The stage area has since been converted into a gym and other dry facilities.
Artelia provided quantity surveying services for the £3.3m refurbishment of the pool area and other ancillary areas for Cheam Leisure Centre.
The project used a PPC2000 contract, which integrates the design, supply and construction processes, from inception to completion and aligns contractual project management processes with teamwork methods and behaviours. As quantity surveyors to the project, this meant we regularly reviewed the contractor’s “Open Book” accounts.
