The multi-site team presided over the first hydraulically lifted canopy installation at Shell’s Fakenham site. This Artelia global first in innovation in design and health & safety management was led by the UK team.
The canopy was built at ground level then raised to 1.9m to enable underlining, fascias, wiring, lighting and CCTV cameras to be installed. It was then raised to full height and secured in place.
Safety benefits include: eliminating the use of cranes to lift the canopy into place – replacing with hydraulic rams – and workers needing to go onto the canopy roof. Working at height is also minimised. The assembly is raised as a supported load NOT suspended. Additionally, gutters on the perimeter of the canopy provide easier access for future maintenance.
