With around five months until completion, One Oval Square – the complex development of a new stand and hospitality venue at Surrey County Cricket Club’s Kia Oval ground – is really taking shape and you can get a feel for what a top-class facility it will be.

The new stand boosts The Kia Oval’s capacity to around 28,000, with state-of-the-art hospitality facilities to match. On the ground floor is the C&E Entrance and ticketing, club shop and Member’s Entrance leading to the first floor with the sizeable Members’ Lounge with seating and catering facilities for 600 people, the Peter May Garden, Member’s terrace and President’s Suite – all featuring panoramic views of the ground. Above these sits the Lock Balcony and Terrace Bar, a stunning events space with 360 degree views taking in all the sporting action below and across London’s skyline.
Zac Halliday, Leo Faria and Jacobi Oliver are working tirelessly with the client and contractors to maintain Covid-safe operation of the site whilst minimising impact on productivity, in a bid to achieve the Club’s deadline of completion by April, in time for the 2021 Cricket Season.
This includes compliance with Construction Leadership Council (CLC) guidance and the integration of a COVID 19 risk assessment as part of works. Increased site welfare with a clear schedule of rotating breaks for site operatives.
The internal fit-out is the most challenging because numerous trades are working on site. To mitigate this programme elements have been resequenced to bring materials and labour to site earlier than initially forecast, thus reducing the number of operatives on site.
Extended working hours and days are also helping to negate lost productivity due to Covid-safe working practices.
A huge collaborative effort is being made by everyone, to achieve handover for the new season.
