Alan Titchmarsh Opens RHS Wisley’s new Visitor Welcome Building
This week saw Toni Dalton and Paul Needham back on site at Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Wisley with various celebrities, for the official opening of the garden’s stunning new Visitor Welcome Centre. Alan Titchmarsh MBE, Vice President of the RHS and a founding RHS Ambassador, and Sue Biggs, Director General of the RHS, performed the opening ceremony.
The Welcome Building impressed visitors with its light and airy arrivals hall, stylish 100 seat restaurant, café, shop and visitor services areas. One of the most spectacular aspects of the new building is the vast Plant Centre, covering the size of four Olympic swimming pools and including a wide span glasshouse of Dutch manufacture. The Centre stocks tens of thousands of plants, including rare and unusual varieties, some of which are exclusive to RHS Wisley.  As well as the new building, the project included extensive car parking and landscaping, creating an impressive arrivals experience for visitors as they enter the RHS’ flagship 240-acre garden.
The project looks even more impressive from the air with this drone video.
