Artelia has been appointed by St Albans Cathedral in the role of Quantity Surveyor to undertake essential restoration and conservation work to the Cathedral, including the creation of a new Welcome Centre to allow the Cathedral’s story to be told, conserving and protecting its heritage and history.

St Albans Cathedral is the oldest site of continuous Christian worship in Britain. It stands over the place where Alban, Britain’s first saint, was buried after giving his life for his faith over 1700 years ago – more than 200 years before St Augustine arrived in Canterbury. This restoration project will reveal the importance of Alban and raise the profile of the Cathedral built in his honour. The nave is the longest of any cathedral in England at 84 meters (276 ft).

For more details about the project – Alban, Britain’s First Saint – please visit the Cathedral website.
