In the role of Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor Artelia has completed the first new build hotel in Worthing, East Sussex for Premier Inn, Whitbread. It is the first new build hotel in over 100 years, and is aiming to attract the business traveler with a contemporary edge that sets it apart from the established bed & breakfasts in the location.
The project has been developed by Roffey Homes with Westbrooke Developments as the main contractor. Retained consultants included Axiom as architects and Applied Energy for M & E.
The sea front facing 81-bedroom hotel is situated on the Marine Parade coast road convenient for both the expansive sea front and the beautiful South Downs. Many of the rooms have dual fronted windows which allow views of the seafront and the iconic Worthing Pier. The new generation bedrooms all have king-size beds and a bright modern bathroom. Facilities at the hotel include The Thyme restaurant which serves a mix of traditional and contemporary dishes, the sea facing restaurant is also open for breakfast and dinner to non-residents.
The redevelopment hopes to attract a different market to the established bed & breakfasts in the area, whilst also to those travelling with business as companies often use the well-known chain as preferred accommodation for employees.
