The Artelia group is providing design and construction supervision services for the refurbishment of the prestigious luxury Hôtel de Crillon in Paris. A number of teams within Artelia are working together on this project: the Commercial Facilities business unit, which is in charge of construction supervision, has joined forces with the Engineering unit for the technical designs relating to HVAC, structures and lifts, and is also calling on the expertise of the Organisation and Planning unit.

This major refit is the latest in a list of similar projects carried out at historical “palace” hotels in Paris, such as the Ritz, the Plaza Athénée, the Lutécia and the Prince de Galles, where work is either currently being carried out or has recently been completed. The objective is to compete on a more even footing with the Asian hotel chains that have recently moved into the Parisian market, opening luxury establishments such as the Shangri-la, the Mandarin Oriental and the Péninsula.

The work consists in completely renovating the 14,000 m² building, creating new restaurants, and deepening the basement levels in order to install a spa and a swimming pool. The owner’s representatives have commissioned some illustrious international architects and interior designers, such as Richard Martinet (the Shangri-la and Péninsula in Paris, Hôtel de Paris in Monaco, etc.), Karl Lagerfeld and Tristan Auer.

They are working on a daily basis with Artelia’s teams to modernise the hotel’s 18th century architecture and decor while preserving the grandeur of its past, which played such a vital role in forging its reputation.

The refurbishment began a year ago, and is due to be completed in the first quarter of 2016.

This project represents a milestone for Artelia, as it continues to develop its services in the Hospitality sector.
