Now in it’s second year, Climathon Sprint launches next week and sees Artelia UK joining forces with EDF Urbanomy, Novazure, the University of Lincoln and North Lincolnshire Council to challenge students to design a transformative Net Zero concept for a former British Steel-owned quarry site near Scunthorpe – one of the most carbon intensive industrial clusters in the country.
Bringing together multi-disciplinary teams from the University of Lincoln’s highly regarded School of Engineering, this unique initiative is a real opportunity for students to showcase their talent, creativity and passion for zero carbon design. With industry mentors on hand to feedback to the teams it is a truly collaborative event.
The competition launches on 18 October, when the site is unveiled to the 130 plus students participating. They’ll have just two weeks to work-up their Net Zero solutions, before presenting to the judging panel which includes our very own Sundeep Dev. The winning team will be announced on the 4 November.
We are fascinated to see what inspiring solutions this year’s competition will uncover – last year we had everything from agrivoltics to tomato cultivation!
The outcomes of the Climathon Sprint will be communicated during the period of the COP27 United Nations Climate Change Conference, which will take place in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt from 6 to 18 November 2022.
