Demolition work is progressing well at the Kia Oval in Kennington, home of Surrey County Cricket Club, as part of the first phase of the ground’s expansion. Artelia’s PM and Cost Managers have been monitoring progress as the existing Lock Laker Stand and another single-storey building are demolished and piling begins in preparation for the construction of a three-storey spectator stand in the New Year.
The new scheme, One Oval Square, will feature two new roof terraces floating over the existing Peter May Stand, increasing the capacity of the ground by 2,303 seats to 28,000. A linked four-storey building will contain the covered concourse on the ground floor, as well as a reception, shop and ticket office.
Stay tuned to see the impressive structural steel, due to arrive onsite early in the New Year.
