Last week, the multi-site team presided over the first hydraulically lifted canopy installation at Shell Fakenham. It’s an Artelia global first and an innovation in design and health & safety management, which has been led by the UK team.
The canopy was built at ground level complete with top sheet. The structure was then raised to 1.9m to enable underlining, fascias, wiring, lighting, CCTV cameras to be installed. It was then raised to full height and secured in place.
This eliminates the use of cranes to lift into place – replaced with hydraulic rams – and workers going onto canopy roof. It also restricts working at height to a minimum. The assembly is raised as a supported load NOT suspended. Finally, there were gutters on perimeter of canopy giving easy access for future maintenance.
