Artelia is delighted to be appointed as cost consultants for the Trustees of the Highbury Roundhouse, working in conjunction with Sarah Wigglesworth Architects to deliver a new Youth and Community Centre.
The Highbury Roundhouse, a charitable trust, is procuring the new building to amalgamate, on one site, the range services its provides to the local community. The design of the centre, led by Sarah Wigglesworth Architects, brings together spaces for early years, youth and elders’ groups; a retail café/kitchen; offices; a dance studio and other community spaces around a large new double-storey hall.
The design gained planning consent in July 2013, following which the Roundhouse began fundraising to finance the project, with technical design work commencing in autumn 2015.
Sarah Wigglesworth is an established and award winning Architect with her Straw Bale House featuring on Grand Designs in 1999.
Construction of the new build two storey Youth and Community Centre is due to start in summer 2016, with an estimated project value of £2.6m.
