Artelia is seeking bright Quantity Surveying graduates to develop your career within our exciting and growing construction consultancy based in London. As part of a global group employing over 7,000 people, we have an exciting range of clients, from global commercial and industrial conglomerates to hoteliers, retailers, healthcare trusts, schools, universities, museums and UNESCO World Heritage sites. This makes for tremendously varied career opportunities in cost management.
As a key member of the professional team, you will be providing valuable construction cost management services to our clients, responsible for cost planning and management throughout the life cycle of a project:
Our graduate programme in Quantity Surveying has been developed to prepare you for a successful future at Artelia and beyond.
The experiences available will help you to develop the versatility and confidence essential to becoming a trusted advisor to our clients.
The scheme itself is flexible and fully adaptable to your development and the opportunities available. There are no restrictions and the pace at which you progress through the graduate programme and in your career, it is completely down to you.
Throughout, we provide you with the training, mentoring and support you need to thrive on your journey to Chartered Status with The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
As a Graduate, you will also join Artelia’s Young Professional Forum (YPF) where you will Network with other graduate professionals in the UK and abroad and get to know the consultancy business. The YPF is a supportive environment, with a focus on learning from each other and, just as importantly, ensuring you have fun whilst at work.
During your first year of the graduate programme you will gain all the core skills to build your career as a Quantity Surveyor. You will have the opportunity to get fully involved in projects right from the start – working closely with experienced Quantity Surveyors. The role is incredibly varied, no two projects are the same and all have different demands at each stage. You will be managing relationships with colleagues, clients and a variety of stakeholders – based not just in the office, but out on client sites too. By the end of the year, there is an expectation that you will be given full responsibility for the cost management of one of your own projects.
After completing your first year at Artelia, you will begin to take on greater responsibility for cost managing projects. You will rotate between different units within the UK office to stretch your Quantity Surveying skills and practical knowledge. There are a wide range of opportunities available. Together with your mentor, you could decide to:
The third year of the programme has been created to expand your horizons, develop your skill set and finalise your path to Chartership. You will be given increasing responsibility, opening up an ever-increasing range of challenging and interesting leadership opportunities.
You will be taught to simultaneously manage multiple cost management projects and take responsibility for managing your own portfolio of projects. You will have the opportunity of working as part of a team delivering high profile major projects not only in the UK, but also internationally.
This programme is flexible and can be adapted to meet your needs and the needs of our clients. There are no restrictions for graduates. However, Chartership with the RICS through the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) does require 3 years relevant work experience with an RICS accredited degree (or 5 years’ experience without) before the assessment can be taken.
When selecting our graduates, we look beyond just the academic. Ours is a people business and we work together in teams. We need individuals with ‘in-built’ drive and motivation, who can relate to those around them. We like common sense, integrity and people who have broad ranging interests, who can solve problems and thrive under pressure. People who will participate in our committees and forums and who want to make a difference to our business, clients and projects.
In exchange, we are offering a competitive salary and an extensive benefits package including 5% pension, Life Insurance, full private Medical Insurance and a Medical Cash Plan (including optical and dental cover), childcare voucher and cycle to work schemes, membership to My Artelia Benefits offering shopping discounts, savings on cinema tickets, hotel bookings and insurances.
You will receive up to 27 days holiday plus bank holiday and 2 days charity leave each year. We also have a number of fun social events throughout the year so you will quickly feel like part of the team!
