Reinstatement of fire damage to listed public house and restaurant
ANG acted as Management Contractor for the restoration of 17th Century Three Horseshoes in Abbots Ripton near Huntingdon, now renamed as, The Elm.
Embers in a chimney were the cause of a fire which destroyed the roof of the historic pub and restaurant. The building, which was newly refurbished at the time, was badly damaged.
The Grade II-listed building was constructed as an open hall in the late 15th Century to offer hospitality to the drovers bringing cattle down from Scotland (along the Bullock Road) to the market at St.Ives. It was later altered with the insertion of a brick chimney in the early 17th century.
The ANG Artelia management contracting team restored each element of the historic building with sympathy and care.
