Following the acquisition of Appleyards in the UK and of DPG Plan in Brazil in the past three years, Artelia, a leading international group specialising in project management, engineering and consultancy in the fields of construction, infrastructure and the environment, is pursuing its active external growth policy.
In this context Artelia finalised the acquisition of two engineering and project management firms in January 2015 – Sher, in Belgium, and Intertecno, in Italy – which represent a total staff size of approximately 150 and a cumulative turnover of €18 million.
“These two acquisitions are fully in line with Artelia’s strategy, the group seeking to accelerate its international development through sustained organic growth as well as acquisitions in a highly competitive environment where the major engineering firms are continuously looking to consolidate their structures around the world”, stated Benoît Clocheret, Group CEO.
The Belgian group Sher, a specialist in irrigation, water resource management and hydropower, will further enhance Artelia’s expertise in water, local development and environmental projects on an international level (Africa, Asia). “The integration of Sher reinforces the presence of the group in the African Great Lakes region and in West Africa. It also demonstrates the emphasis Artelia places on its human and sustainable dimensions since Sher’s everyday activities contribute to improving the living conditions of local populations”, pointed out Marc Giroussens, Managing Director of Artelia’s group subsidiary operating in the fields of water and the environment.
Intertecno is one of Italy’s leading engineering, project management and technical consultancy firms in the building construction, tertiary and industrial sectors. With more than 40 years’ experience and 20 years of international business through its subsidiaries in Hungary and Poland and a branch office in Libya, Intertecno exports its know-how in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. “Following the integration of these engineering and building construction activities in Italy and with a strengthened presence in Rome and Milan, the Artelia group is now capable of proposing a more comprehensive range of services to its clients in the fields of real-estate and multi-site distribution networks”, declared Antoine Pigot, Managing Director of Artelia International.
